The Center for Head Injury Services

The Center for Head Injury Services has been providing disability support programming to the St. Louis area for over 36 years. What started as one program and a handful of staff has grown into a nationally accredited agency providing 17 programs to over 700 clients per year. Programs include social enterprise businesses, clinical therapies, day programming, employment services, independent living, and counseling.

Our Career Opportunities

Behavior Technician:
The Midwest Adult Autism Project has full and part time openings for a team player to join a program that enables adults living with autism to learn new skills and participate in meaningful activity.

Provide direct supports to participants in our MAAP program.

Implement a wide variety of cognitive, social, recreational, and community integration activities for program participants to achieve goals.

• Provide oversight and supervision to participants in accordance to Individual Supports Plans and Behavioral Support Plans.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL), including but not limited to toileting, dressing, meal preparation and hygiene.
• Collaborate with other team members while supporting participants.
• Accompany participants to community-based outings and volunteer sites.

Community Supports Instructor:
The Community Supports team is seeking a full-time staff to work one on one with clients in the development of independent living skills. Grocery shopping, personal banking, transportation, cooking self-care, budgeting, and more are the skills facilitated in this program.

• Provide targeted and goal-oriented supports to individuals with developmental disabilities residing in their natural homes.
• Provide direct care supports and training to increase consumers independence.
• Participate in the development of Individual Support Plans (ISP).
• Effectively teach daily living skills to consumers where barriers have been recognized per ISP.
• Consistently seek out new opportunities for consumers to connect with their community to increase their independence.
• Support consumer with learning appropriate responses to real life situations.
• Complete emergency drills and documentation of drills as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and consumers team regarding progress and issues to be resolved.
• Complete all required documentation and required trainings in a timely manner
• Maintain high professional standards at all times.
• Maintain competency by engaging in activities of professional development.

Employment Advisor:
The Training and Transition department is seeking Summer Seasonal, Part-Time, and Full Time Employment Advisors to provide on-site support services and advocacy for individuals with disabilities. Our team works one on one with clients to assist in the acquisition of employment and vocational goals.

• Provide support, training, and case management services to individuals with disabilities who are employed or in vocational training.
• Work with clients, their support networks, funding sources, and business partners as needed to assure the development of individual vocational plans.
• Assess job requirements and environmental conditions of the client’s workplace to develop a plan for successful integration, including instruction in work skills.
• Provide clients with orientation and instruction at their work site.
• Assist clients with learning and retaining skills and strategies needed to complete required job tasks, including appropriate work behaviors and social skills.
• Assist with monitoring program services and progress toward individual vocational goals.
• Facilitate communication with client and his/her employer and co-workers.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation.

Rehabilitation Technician:
Do you enjoy supporting others with increasing their skills to reach their goals? Are you patient and flexible? The Adult Day Program is looking for a team player who enjoys facilitating fun and enriching activities for program participants.

• Assist with development, organization and operations of the Day Services Program.
• Implement a wide variety of cognitive, social, recreational and community integration activities for program participants to achieve individualized goals.
• Review Individual Support Plans (ISP) and provide supports in accordance to ISP.
• Provide appropriate supervision and training to program participants during day services program activities to ensure safety and goal achievement.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADL), including but not limited to toileting, dressing, meal preparation and supports during meals.
• Transport and supervise program participants who volunteer or engage in other community integration activities.
• Complete required documentation including daily log notes for behavioral goals, data, and records of billable time usage.
