Lafayette County Board of Sheltered Services (LCBSS) is a non-profit subsidiary of the local county government. Originally founded in 1976. Since then many great and exciting things have happened. Now, in 2022, LCBSS provides transportation to individuals to and from the sheltered workshop, staff two apartment complexes, one in Higginsville and one in Lexington, runs an ISL home, and provides case management to the county.
We proudly have several staff who have been with us for more than 20 years. Many more who have surpassed 10 years. These staff provide the foundations in consistent and quality care and supports that our individuals receive.
Our Career Opportunities
We have both full-time and part-time openings in our ISL home and Apartment program. At the ISL we need staff who can provide compassionate care and structure for the two ladies who live there. Staff here cook, provide support for ADLs, give medications, take the ladies on outings, assist the ladies with their laundry and cleaning, and do activities that enrich the lives of the ladies.
At the Apartments these individuals need less personal care but need staff who can assist them in areas of community integration and leisure outings chosen by the individuals, support with cooking and cleaning, grocery shopping, and medical appointments.
We also have an opportunity to for a sub driver in our Transportation department. This position really requires a unique person. This position is just an as-needed position. This person would be called upon to drive when our regular route drivers would be in need of time off. This person is always welcome to be cross trained in other departments for more hours, but that is left up to the person who fills this position.
